Here's a lovely Chardonnay to trot out with a traditional Friulian platter of scampi in bùzara. The Jermann 2017 Where Dreams Have No End is partially fermented in oak, with most of the fruit going into stainless steel. This is a lean-bodied wine with citrus, white peach, orchard fruit and toasted almond. I've always admired this wine, first for its simplicity and then for the crescendo of little aromas that blossom with time. This is a fluid and ever-changing wine that gives you something new with each swirl of the glass.

I love the subtle and warm, floral nose here, which shows peonies, daffodils, honeysuckle, Williams pears, cloves and white pepper. Dense and layered on the palate, which journeys through fleshy stone fruit to spicier elements, all the while retaining a wonderful sense of freshness, thanks to dialed-in acidity. Drink now or hold. Screw cap.
