Tasting notes
Score 83/100 · Drink 2019, Neal Martin

The 1980 Trotanoy feels dry and lacks definition on the nose with light meaty/dried blood aromas (probably from the Cabernet Franc). The palate is medium-bodied with a rather hollow middle—what you might describe as a “doughnut” Trotanoy with an amenable, slightly astringent finish. Bottles ought to have been consumed by now. Taken from the Pomerol book authored by Neal Martin.

Trotanoy

Château Trotanoy was one of the first recognised Premier Cru sites on the Pomerol plateau, with records dating back to the late 1700s. Even back in the nineteenth century it was seen as the best site in Pomerol second only to Vieux Château Certan.
