The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has a more austere, mineral-driven bouquet than Jean-Claude Bachelet's Les Macherelles. It's well-defined with hints of orange blossom and orchard fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity. The oak here is neatly integrated, cohesive and poised with a sapid, peppery finish that urges you back for me. Recommended. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Cool as a cucumber on the nose. Quite exciting and sleek with real fruit concentration. (JR)

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru is very attractive on the nose with scents of mirabelle, almond, white chocolate and Granny Smiths, complex and involving. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Plenty of tension and energy in situ, quite saline on the finish with superb persistence. This is one of the best 2020s from Philippe Colin this vintage.
