Palish bright red. Mellow, complex nose combines raspberry and cherry fruit aromas with muskier notes of soil and leather. Supple but a touch dry, in a rather wild, leathery style. This wine was made from a combination of very ripe grapes and others that were affected by hail. I'd drink it on the early side, before it loses its fruit. (Incidentally, the estate did not bottle a Volnay Frémiets from the 2014 vintage.)

Perfumed and rather charming on the nose. Really chock-full of fruit. Quite dramatic and attention-grabbing. Dry finish. (JR)
(60% loss to hail; the production was 15 hectoliters per hectare, according to winemaker Paul Zinetti): Bright medium red. Aromas and flavors of redcurrant, smoky game and leather lifted by a minty nuance. Juicy and moderately ripe, with the light minty element carrying through in the mouth. Tannins are a tad dry.
The 2014 Volnay Villages, which comes from two parcels that lost 80% of their fruit due to hail, has a well defined and almost Pommard-like bouquet. The palate is nicely structured with grainy tannin, crisp acidity, plenty of freshness with a tertiary, masculine finish that again, is not unlike a Pommard on the finish. Give it a year or two after bottling.
