(from vines in Les Longeroies; 15% new oak; entirely destemmed): Healthy medium red. Cooler on the nose than the Côtes de Nuits-Villages, offering scents of cherry, blueberry and menthol accented by black pepper. Much fresher and juicier in the mouth as well, with its dark fruit flavors framed by an element of mineral firmness. A wine of limited scale but with good intensity and verve. Finishes with firm but ripe tannins and a complicating saline quality.

The 2016 Marsannay Villages has a pretty red cherry and strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is fleshy on the entry with fine tannin, crisp acidity, nicely structured with a saline finish. This is a perfectly acceptable and enjoyable Marsannay given the frost damage up there this season.
