The 2020 Hautes-Côtes de Beaune Altitude 421 Bignon is living up to its fine showing from barrel, bursting with scents of red berries, plums, cinnamon, raw cocoa and sweet spices. Medium-bodied, lively and ethereal, it's lively and fine-boned, with melting tannins and a saline finish.

Red clay. 100% destemmed, 15% new oak, aged in 500-litre barrels. Cask sample. Elegant and floral; lots of fresh roses. A very tidy mouthful. (MH)
