The 2019 Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of peonies, plums, orange rind and rich soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's a charming, suave rendition of this inherently far from ethereal site.

The 2019 Corton Les Maréchaudes Grand Cru is almost understated on the nose, gradually unfurling with raspberry and wild strawberry scents and touches of brown spice and sandalwood; impressive complexity here. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, beautifully knit red berry fruit and a judicious sprinkling of black pepper and clove. Understated but already extremely more-ish on the finish. My advice is to have a second bottle handy!
