The 2020 Marjorum comes from three separate parcels that are more than 50 years in age. The make-up of the blend is two-thirds kimmeridgian and one-third flint. The resulting wine is tender and full with a rich, silky texture that fills the mouth. There's high alcohol here which detracts a little from the overall harmony, but it is nonetheless an impressive wine with plentiful concentration, richness and structure.

The 2020 Pouilly Fumé Majorum is a historic cuvée with huge density, yet it's not heavy. The majority of the terroir is limestone giving a tenderness with flint brining a sense of direction. It's not made every year. At 15% alcohol, it's most definitely ripe in terms of the creamy, sweet fruit and phenolics but it's also hot on the finish, knocking out the balance. Ripe melon, a hint of green pea and mint, almost like a summer salad, with a light pastry note from the oak maturation. A very carefully made wine from excellent sites, but that alcohol is just detracting from the overall impression. It should be a 95+ wine, but the balance is just not there and won't last as long as cooler vintages.
