The 2018 Pommard Clos des Poutures 1er Cru has a lighter bouquet, more transparent than its peers. It exhibits more "Pinoté", brambly red fruit, rose petal and hints of orange pith. Good use of whole cluster is evident. The palate is crisp and fresh with crunchy red fruit, "cooler" than its peers which is some achievement given the warmth this year. Fresh and saline on the finish, this is a classy Pommard that beckons you back for another sip. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

50% whole bunch. Tank sample. Lightish cherry red. Inviting peppery red-fruited freshness on the nose. Delicate but really persistent, the tannins extremely fine. Juicy and elegant. (JH)
