Broad and rich on both nose and palate but with excellent framework and acidity. Tastes as though it is just approaching its peak now. Lip-smacking. Complete. (JR)

Notes of yellow orchard fruits, white flowers and beeswax introduce the 2016 Mâcon-Chardonnay Clos de la Crochette, a medium-bodied, saline wine that's decidedly understated and somewhat discreet on the finish.

Argilo calcaire. South facing and the earliest ripening even though it’s way north of Milly-Lamartine and a little north of Uchizy, because it’s lower elevation. Quite creamy and very appealing. Very firm and structured but with sufficient flesh. (JR)

(this 2.6-hectare vineyard is situated in a clos near Tournus, at a higher altitude than the estate's vines in Uchizy and close to the river, on clay and rock soil; one-third done in foudres and two-thirds in demi-muids ; this fruit ripens very early and is always the first to be picked): Light yellow-green. High-toned, slightly exotic scents of nectarine and musky lime. Not particularly complex but offers lovely pliancy of texture and good ripe framing acidity. Less silky-rich than the 2015 version but finishes dry and firm.
