FINE+RARE, Sep 2023

The Chalumaux vines are the domaine’s oldest, planted in 1954 lending further intensity to the vineyard’s wines that are a typically big and bold style of Puligny-Montrachet. The 2022 is a little shy on the nose at present, but the palate is luscious – laden with generous white-peach fruit, fleshy and supple with a round and creamy mouth-feel. The fruit is reined in by a phenolic grip and flinty note that dominates the long finish.

The holding is next to Champ Canet rather than higher up towards Blagny. I am not finding much bouquet. There is plenty of density here, along with a youthful bitterness, as if lemon pips had been squeezed too strongly.
