Score 90/100 · Drink 2025-2039, Neal Martin, Feb 2024

The 2021 Château de Myrat does not quite gel on the nose, a little unfocused compared to other vintages and possessing what feels like less botrytis concentration. The palate is well-balanced with a honeyed opening, quite harmonious but in need of more complexity and depth on the finish.

A 100% Sémillon, the 2021 de Myrat evokes a gourmand, deep bouquet with aromas of orchard fruits, white fruits and spices. Moderately weighted, a bit incisive with a juicy mid-palate, it’s well-balanced, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish.

The 2021 Myrat is bold and bursting with explosive energy, and yet it retains its mid-weight personality. Lemon confit, tangerine oil, passionfruit, mint, ginger and pineapple lift out of the glass, giving this airy, elegant Sauternes gorgeous layers of dimension. Impressive.
