2021 Volnay Clos des Chenes

The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes was produced from the grapes that Bouley characterizes as the visually most appealing of his harvest, and he opted to retain fully 40% whole bunches during vinification. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of plums, sweet wild berries, orange zest and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, with an especially seamless, sensual profile, its ample core of fruit largely concealing a chassis of beautifully powdery tannin. This is another cuvée that's fit to stand alongside recent banner vintages, despite the more challenging season.
