Brilliant dark red. Medicinal blueberry and black raspberry on the nose, lifted by floral and minty nuances. A sweet, fruit-driven village wine with light mint and herbal traces to its brisk dark berry flavors. A bit tight and lean but finishes with fine-grained tannins and very good length. This will need a few years in bottle to show more give.

The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges Bas de Combes was showing a lot of reduction on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe black cherry and raspberry fruit, a touch of sea salt and a gentle grip. A little masculine on the finish with good structure and acidity, this is a fine and quite sophisticated Nuits Saint Georges in the making.
