Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

Raphet’s "straight" Clos de Vougeot bottling (versus the Vieilles Vignes) is impressive in 2022. The nose is sweet and dark, lifted by crushed, crystallised florals, candied blackcurrants and a chalkiness. The palate offers weight and intensity, with structured, grippy tannins that provide a frame as waves of dark fruit wash across the tongue. A bloody, almost iron note, fills the finish.

Here too there is enough wood to remark upon framing the mix of red and blue pinot fruit, earth and a hint of humus character. Once again there is very good mid-palate density to the suave and seductively textured medium weight plus flavors that conclude in the classic youthful austerity of a typical Clos de Vougeot
