Score 90/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Neal Martin, Jan 2023

The 2018 Fixin Clos de la Perrière 1er Cru maybe has the finest bouquet compared to the 2019 and 2020 with a little more delineation and transparency: brambly red fruit, loam and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, lightly spiced, fresh with a saline and liquorice-tinged finish. Not so much in the way of finesse, yet it has a satisfying peppery aftertaste.

Offering up rich aromas of blackberries, cassis, smoked meats, orange rind and coffee, the 2018 Fixin 1er Cru Clos de la Perrière is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a perfumed finish. It's an elegant middle-weight in this warm vintage.
