Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2028, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2018

First made in 2009, the 2014 Pastourelle De Clerc Milon is the second wine of the estate and is a rough split of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Carmenère. The 2014 is a medium-bodied, elegant, classy effort that offers plenty cassis and currants fruits, hints of violets, and graphite. I love its purity and would happily drink bottles over the coming decade.

The 2014 Pastourelle de Clerc-Milon is ripe, plump and juicy, all qualities that make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. The Pastourelle is exactly what a second wine should be: both approachable and also a window into the style of the Grand Vin. The blend is 77 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 14 % Merlot, 8 % Cabernet Franc and 1 % Petit Verdot.
