Tasting notes
This is one of the best vintages of Eglise-Clinet in recent years. The nose is intense, full of raspberry, cherry, pomegranate and blackberry fruit and great minerality. A gentle giant, it’s got incredible energy and purity of fruit that is matched by the firm yet supple tannins on the mid-palate, with the finish long and complex, evolving endlessly. Almost hard to resist now, yet will reward patience. Aged in 82% new oak, with 14.6% alcohol. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc

An opulence of flavours and aromatics, knitted down and ready to go the distance, expect waves of squid ink, crayon and slate, alongside iris, peony, fragrant camellia blossoms. Creamy black fruits and liquorice bud emerge after 15 minutes in the glass, this will take its time to fully open, suggest a good four or five years in bottle for the precise, carved natured of the tannins to soften and fully reveal the brilliance of this wine. Once again sitting among the very best of the appellation. 82% new oak. Harvest September 10 to 14. Noëmie Durantou winemaker, 42hl/h yield.
The Grand Vin 2023 Château L'Eglise Clinet checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that was raised in 82% new French oak. Deep purple-hued, it offers a sensational perfume of ripe black cherries, plums, smoke, tobacco, and chocolate, with some classic Pomerol damp earth and graphite. It's full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered mouthfeel, background oak, and a gorgeous finish. This is a heavenly, rich, layered, ultra-classic expression of this château. Don't miss it! It deserves a decade of bottle age and will cruise for 30-40 years. Drink 2034-2064.
Rich, layered and dynamic in the glass, the 2023 L'Eglise-Clinet is outrageously beautiful. Inky red/purplish fruit, spice, blood orange, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco open in the glass. The 2023 shows terrific finesse. It's a wine of tremendous power and reserve, with soaring aromatics, mind-blowing balance, layered depth, boundless energy and a real sense of tension.
About the producer

Ch. l'Eglise-Clinet is one of the most unassuming wine estates in Bordeaux. You'd probably drive past it if you didn't have prior knowledge of its vinous output. There's no ostentatious gateway nor sweeping gravel drive.
