The Richebourg (75 cases produced for the entire world) is the richest and deepest of Jayer's 1986 red burgundies. It is a generous, sumptuous wine bursting with flavor and character. Every time I taste it I somehow feel I should bow my head. It will drink especially well between 1992 and 2000. Anyone who loves or makes Pinot Noir should study Jayer's wines, for they serve as a modern-day reference point for those desiring to produce the best possible wines from this fickle grape variety.

About the producer

Henri Jayer

The wines of Henri Jayer (1922-2006) have mythical status in Burgundy. Coveted by many but tasted by just a precious few, they are some of the region’s rarest and most desirable – considered by some to be the pinnacle of what can be achieved with Pinot Noir.
