The 2016 Saint-Aubin La Chatenière 1er Cru has a fragrant bouquet with those hazelnut and lemon curd aromas that I remarked upon from barrel. The palate is very well balanced, possibly a little "fatter" than I recall, but the acidity is superb and it feels reassuringly persistent on the chalky, almost flinty finish. Very fine. Tasted from a sample at home.

Racy and incisive, the 2016 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière offers up a pure bouquet of crisp green orchard fruit, grapefruit pith, beeswax and wet stones. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, deep and concentrated, built around tangy acids that lend the wine tremendous energy that powers through the mouthwatering, delicately chalky finish. It's a beautiful wine.
