Bright garnet. Meat-and-two-veg on the nose. Very firm and demanding. Masses of tannin and positively surly fruit. Leave this for an age! d’Angerville structure without Volnay charm. Pretty drying on the end. (JR)

One of Marquis d'Angerville's less well-known bottlings, the 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Combes Dessus exhibits lovely aromas of sweet cherries, spices, dried flowers and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, juicy and layered, with good concentration, a comparatively open-knit core and a long finish.
