Showing nicely now from bottle, the 2018 Château Lestage Simon has up-front notes of ripe black cherries and cassis as well as licorice, spicy oak, and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied and nicely concentrated, it has some oak to integrate but still brings beautiful fruit and richness.

The 2018 Lestage Simon has a ripe, quite opulent but focused bouquet of mainly red fruit (strawberry and raspberry), floral tones and cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent, fleshy opening, but there is also satisfying structure and grip to this Haut-Médoc. Blood orange lingers on the aftertaste. Very fine.

Cru bourgeois supérieur.   50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot.  Ripe and lifted on the nose, the fruit with a raisined edge. Oak present in the background. Palate juicy with a minerally streak of freshness but glow of alcohol on the finish. Firm tannic frame. Should age. (JL)
