The 2013 Monbrison felt rather raw and green on the nose, a little flat. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, it feels hollow on the back palate with a slightly raw, lightly peppered finish. This estate has produced much better wines in other vintages.

Fully fragrant nose with the violet aroma of Margaux, plus ripe fruit. It's not intense but the flavours transmit well. Very softly structured. (RH)

A bit of oak on the nose, but not much else. Pretty tough palate – lots of furry tannin, bitter herbs, hard edges. (RH)
