Score 91/100 · Drink 2024-2029, Neal Martin

The 1972 Beaune Les Marconnets 1er Cru has a rustic yet fresh nose: dried roses in an antique vase and a crustacea touch. The palate is well-balanced and much more elegant than expected, with sapid black fruit intermixed with black olive towards the short yet enjoyable finish. This is a commendable wine, considering the growing season. Tasted at the mature Bouchard Père dinner at the Domaine in Beaune.
