The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Selection Pre-Colombière contains 60% whole-bunch fruit, though it is difficult to discern on the nose, which is very well defined with touches of sous-bois /autumn leaves infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. A finely chiseled Vosne-Romanée with impressive mineralité and tension toward the lightly spiced finish. Excellent.

Three parcels at the centre of the village: Le Pré de la Folie, Aux Communes, La Colombière. Just over 1 ha (2.5 acres). 60% whole bunch. Barrel sample. Mid cherry red. Really pretty sweet red fruit on the nose, intense and bright. Ripe, sweet yet fresh. More savoury on the palate, rich in fruit, firmly textured – the tannins are compact and smooth. Builds to a more chewy finish but is balanced by the freshness of fruit and stems, which are not noticeable in the flavour, just in the freshness. (JH)
