Score 86-88/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2018

The 2017 Maillet is dark, juicy and expressive. With a little more mid-palate depth it might merit a slightly higher rating. The dark red stone fruit, mint, pomegranate and spice flavors are nicely delineated, and there is good energy in the glass, but this needs more palate weight.

Blueberries, black cherries, graphite, and hints of scorched earth all emerge from the 2017 Château Maillet. This beauty is medium to full-bodied, rounded and sexy on the palate, with beautiful purity of fruit. With ripe tannin, integrated acidity, and a great finish, it has real class.
