Score 88/100 · Drink 2014-2021, Robert Parker, Aug 2014

This sexy, opulent, easygoing 2003 remains fresh and lively. There are no signs of heat or fatigue from this historically hot June, July and August in 2003. The delicious, fully mature Rouget is best drunk over the next 5-7 years.

Red-ruby. Exotic aromas of roasted redcurrant, plum and leather. Supple and plummy, with a distinctly roasted, jammy character and modest depth. Finishes with building tannins. Very 2003 in character.

Smudgy crimson. Very neutral nose. Slight and sweet. No real depth. For early consumption as quite a charming wine but not a really great Pomerol. (JR)

Red-ruby. Spicy blackberry and dark chocolate on the nose. Fresh and pliant, with sweet black fruit flavors enlivened by licorice and violet. Finishes strong, with firm tannins buffered by dark berry and chocolate flavor. A solid sample.
