Very pale garnet. Sleek and polished texture with lots of freshness. Long. Hedonistic. (JR)

Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir The Eyrie opens very slowly to detailed licorice, dusty earth, dried citrus peel and flowers with a core of red and black berries. The light-bodied palate is silky and delicately styled with an undercurrent of saline-like minerality and a layered fan of spices framing the long finish.

Full bottle 1,340 g. Pale ruby. Delightfully unlike the non-European Pinot norm with lightly funky notes, jewel-bright complex fruit but no hint of simple sweetness on the finish. In fact the wine finishes bone dry with light tannins and great aplomb and confidence. Definite spice and dried grasses. Truly sui generis . Much more rewarding – and evolved! – than a 2017 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Rouge opened alongside. Really delicious… and delightfully nuanced. Admirably long. (JR)

Pale ruby, the 2017 Pinot Noir Estate is classically styled, with scents of red and black berry fruit and accents of forest floor, tobacco and aniseed. The light-bodied palate is juicy and soft, with intense, earth-laced fruits and a long, spicy finish.
