Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2029, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Dec 2025

The Franz Haas 2021 Alto Adige Pinot Nero Schweizer (under screw cap with 15,000 bottles made) is a single-vineyard expression with vines planted at 350 to 700 meters in elevation. The wine shows better balance compared to the winery's classic Pinot Noir, and this is largely due to the favorable growing conditions of 2021 compared to the much warmer (and drier) 2022 season. Careful cap management leads to measured extraction and fresh fruit. The wine closes short but fresh.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2030, Eric Guido, Vinous, Dec 2025

The 2021 Pinot Nero Schweizer is darkly floral, mixing nuances of cola with crushed blackberries and sage. Its silken textures soothe as ripe red and blue fruits flow across a stream of cooling acidity. Gently tannic and long, the 2021 leaves hints of licorice and a tart cranberry twang.
