The 1967 l’Eglise-Clinet was up against some very serious and more expensive Burgundy wines, yet it held its own. It sports quite a deep color with just a touch of turbidity. The bouquet has a slight chlorine note that matches the black fruit, nothing overly complex but still fresh with pressed iris petals emerging with time. The palate is structured and demonstrates fine grip. This is certainly well balanced with much more vigor than I anticipated, stocky but fresh with a tarry finish. I suspect that this is as good a bottle of the 1967 as you will find. Excellent. Tasted at Oswald’s private club in London in January 2019.

About the producer

Ch. l-Eglise-Clinet - producer
l'Eglise Clinet

Ch. l'Eglise-Clinet is one of the most unassuming wine estates in Bordeaux. You'd probably drive past it if you didn't have prior knowledge of its vinous output. There's no ostentatious gateway nor sweeping gravel drive.
