The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru initially comes across as quite oaky on the nose. Toasty in style, although there is fruit to soak that up. The palate is predictably very oaky, which masks the terroir and denudes it of mineralité . Quite spicy on the finish, this is a wine that could go two ways depending on how it copes with that oak. I will give it the benefit of the doubt. Very mercurial. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
