2018 Barbaresco Bricco Asili

So perfumed and subtle with dried flowers and spices, as well as some cherries and strawberries. Full-bodied and layered with soft, velvety tannins and a pretty finish. Very forward and attractive. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but better in a year or two.

Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby with orange tinges. Rich but pure on the nose. Cherry fruit with a peppery tingle. Pure, juicy cherry fruit on the palate too with sandpapery tannins. Long fruit finish with bags of tannins. Tactile, focused and pure. (WS)

The 2018 Barbaresco Asili is a concentrated and powerful expression. The wine shows an immediately open personality in which it flaunts its dark cherry and dried blackberry aromas. As it takes on more air in the glass, detailed nuances of earth, spice and camphor ash come into focus. The wine carries its strong fruit weight elegantly over the palate.
