The 2021 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is the one cuvée where I have a question mark over the aromatics, which seemed to show a touch of brettanomyces - a tad feral compared to Roty's other cuvées. That said, it finds more clarity as it opens in the glass. The palate is much better with crunchy, dark, plummy fruit, a citric thread of acidity, and a composed, sorbet-fresh finish with fresh fig hints. After a couple of minutes, I feel that the aromatics got their act together, and it might have just been a bit of "funk."

Offering up aromas of cherries, plums, licorice and spices, Roty's 2021 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy is medium to full-bodied, open-knit and expressive, with a succulent core of fruit and a supple, giving profile.

The 2021 Marsannay Les Ouzeloy has a well-defined bouquet with dark cherry, raspberry and light floral scents, violet and lavender. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, blackcurrant and bilberry fruit, quite saline towards the finish that will require two or three years to soften once bottled.
