The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots sheds a touch of youthful reduction in the glass to reveal notes of plums, vine smoke and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's sapid and saline. It will drink well young.

The 2021 Volnay Les Santenots 1er Cru includes 30% whole bunches. This has a fragrant and well-defined bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, the whole bunches lending freshness and vibrancy. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth opening, maybe a little oaky at the moment, though that should be soaked up with time. It glides towards the finish. Afford this three to four years in the cellar.
