Score 91-93/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2022 Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Barre Monopole (Maison Louis Jadot) has turned out especially well this year, offering up aromas of plums, cherries and sweet berries mingled with hints of orange zest and spices. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, its ample core of fruit largely conceals its sweet structuring tannins, segueing into a saline finish.

Monopole. Cask sample. Quite a deep purplish crimson. Round and fruity within a framework of tannin. Long and builds towards the end in an admirable way. (JR)
