FINE+RARE, Oct 2024

Les Clos is typically the most powerful of the Chablis Grands Crus – and Jadot’s examples is a rich wine in 2023. The fruit comes from one grower, in the heart of the vineyard. Half the wine is aged in larger oak barrels and half in stainless steel. The nose feels steely with crisp, green-apple fruit, but the palate opens up to offer a breadth of round, peachy fruit. It’s full, rich and round, with citrus bite.

The 2023 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has an attractive nose of orchard fruit, hints of honeysuckle, beeswax and an underlying mineralité that will require time to come through. The palate is fresh and crisp thanks to a silver bead of acidity. It's vibrant with a pretty, peachy finish that maintains tension and frisson. The 2023 is worth seeking out. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.
