The 2015 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has a tremendously reduced bouquet that is off-putting and feels more "fixed" than others. The palate is medium-bodied, waxy in texture but again, so reduced by SO2 that any personality or terroir expression is eviscerated. Caveat emptor! Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru les Chenevottes got a big “Wow” in my notes. This is about as classy and crystalline as they come. Possessing a layered, light to medium-bodied, vibrant style to go with gorgeous notes of stone fruits, white flowers, and toasted brioche, it’s not the biggest, richest wine out there, but shines for its balance and purity.

Ripe, spicy/dusty/chalky citrus. Quite broad and full fruited on the palate but lacks depth. There’s just about enough precision and freshness on the mid palate but rather modest overall. (JH)
