Score 91/100 · Drink 2023-2036, Neal Martin, Nov 2022

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Gain 1er Cru has a fragrant nose with wet limestone and green apple scents - all nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with fine "bite" on the entry, lemony and bright, perhaps not quite as complex on the finish but certainly this exhibits good concentration. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Aromas of candied citrus peal, orange oil, warm pastry and green mango introduce the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Gain, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping wine that's succulent and fleshy, concluding with a delicately exotic finish.
