The 2013 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Riesling Auslese (AP #25 14) opens with a very delicate, highly noble and elegant bouquet and this impression is repeated on the palate where this focused and delicately piquant noble sweet Riesling reveals a fascinating finesse and elegance and intertwines juicy pineapples with salty minerals. Absolutely delicious!

Every year I seem to find different qualities in St Urbans-Hof’s Goldtröpfchen Auslese, and for the 2013 vintage they have assembled an amazing concentration of tropical fruit, from mango to papaya and passion fruit to orange. At the same time the wine still exhibits a zesty vibrancy, which banishes any danger of cloying on the finish. The aftertaste lingers almost forever, allowing you to appreciate the more subtle components masked by the sheer impact on the early and mid palate. (MS)
