The 2021 Saint-Véran En Faux comes from 1.5ha of vines located at 360m, matured in 228-litre casks, around 15% new. It has a brisk and breezy bouquet that is focused and delineated. The limestone is very expressive here (the limestone has a high percentage of iron oxide). It becomes floral with time. The palate is lively and tensile, a keen line of acidity running from start to finish, sapid with surprising concentration considering the growing season on the finish. This fulfills its potential from my barrel tasting last year.

The 2021 Saint-Véran En Faux, named after an old French word for a tree, was tasted from a two-year old barrel. It has a taut smoky bouquet. The palate is well balanced with a nice lip-smacking salinity coming through towards the finish. Good potential. Long spicy aftertaste present and correct.
