Mid cherry red. Pure, ripe and scented with pretty red fruits. Sweet and deep on the palate, smooth, fine tannin texture. Texbook Chorey in a ripe vintage. Subtle oak shows a little on the long finish. (JH)

Leather and liquorice on the nose combined with generous redcurrant fruit gives immediate complexity. Concentrated and lengthy, finishing with subtle, well-handled oak spice. (RH)

The 2018 Chorey-lès-Beaune Village is an assemblage of three cuvées from three sides of the village. Matured in 25% new oak, it offers sumptuous raspberry and wild strawberry scents on the well-defined nose. The palate is quite pointed on the entry with a citric line of acidity, plenty of tart red fruit that you would associate with a cooler summer and a fresh, oyster-shell-tinged finish. Delicious.

Grainy texture somehow on the nose. Rich, charming and full-throttle ripe fruit with no excesses and sufficient acidity. Pure and honest even if it may not be worth ageing all that long. Lovely juice. GV (JR)
