Cabernet Franc. This has a more herbal character and darker fruits than the 2023 Haute de la Butte tasted previously. Thyme, sage, marjoram, violet, as well as ripe black plum and blackcurrant and a touch of balsamic. Sandpapery, mouth-coating tannins. The 2022 Bourgueil Les Perrières is a brooding, ripe style. Expect black olive flavors, dried herbs and raspberry-scented length. The tannins are croquant and a little drying, which, combined with the acidity, leads to austerity. More time in bottle may help. On the other hand, it may become even more drying.
