The 2021 Pommard 1er Cru Les Croix Noires is terrific, bursting with aromas of wild plums, dark berries, warm spices and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with an almost unctuous core of fruit that reflects the low yields of the vintage, underpinned by sweet, powdery tannins, it's built for the long haul.

The 2021 Pommard Les Croix Noires 1er Cru displays more presence and fruit intensity compared to the Les Fremiers: lovely dark cherries intermingling with blackcurrant and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, fleshy, gentle grip, slightly candied towards the finish with decent length. Maybe it lacks a bit of typicité but there is a lot of pleasure to be found here.
