1976 Nairac

Tasted from magnum, the 1976 Chateau Nairac exhibits green tints in the glass. The nose is quintessential Barsac with hints of chlorine infusing the mandarin and tangerine scents. It is a typical 1976 Sauternes and certainly suggests a healthy level of botrytis. The palate is fresh and well-balanced with a fine thread of acidity and a slight viscosity in the mouth. Marmalade and orange rind notes dominate. The chlorophyll-tinged finish is a little abrupt perhaps, but by that time you have absolutely no complaints. If you have any bottles, I would drink them sooner rather than later, but this Nairac is still giving pleasure. Drink now. Tasted March 2014.
