The 2019 Riesling Granite is a new wine grown in the Engelsreben site on heavy Jurassic clay covered in granitic sand deposits from the Vosges. Lovely clover blossom and petrichor scents make for an aromatic nose that is incredibly youthful for a wine from 2019. The palate is slender, sinuous, agile and herb-scented, with a balmy texture and citrus oil-infused vibe that makes it superbly smooth. A touch of dried lemon zest makes itself felt towards the long, citric finish. Fine freshness defines the 2019. This hides its potent alcohol with aplomb. (Bone-dry)

The 2019 Riesling Estate was made from about 60% of grand cru grapes, essentially the young vines from Schoenenbourg and a tiny bit of Sporen plus old vines of the estate. It has an earthy, smoky nose with a touch of pineapple. The palate has already started to become more viscous, intensifying the pineapple note and refining it with ripe orange zest. This is a dollop of deliciousness, dripping with fruit but also zesty. Rounded, smooth, rich, yet focused. There are just 3.2g/L of residual sweetness - so this is beautifully dry. (Dry)
