From the Rio Sordo area of Barbaresco, the 2020 Barbaresco Chiaramanti is a bright red/garnet color and offers a well-detailed bouquet of cranberries, spiced orange, chalky earth, and lifted anise or licorice. Medium-bodied, it’s bright and well-balanced on the palate, with fine, grippy tannins, even acidity, and a clean finish. It offers a lot of charm and retains good freshness in this warm vintage. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.

Barbaresco, Rio Sordo. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Sweet cherry and hints of cherry liqueur on the nose, with a hint of cinnamon bark. Really opens up with aeration. Juicy cherry fruit with crunchy tannins. Quite rich but with plenty of acidity to give it tension. An attractive estate Barbaresco. Ready now. (WS)

The 2020 Barbaresco Chiaramanti is a very pretty, mid-weight wine. Crushed rose petal, sweet red cherry fruit, mint, spice and orange peel give this perfumed, lifted Barbaresco plenty of charm. Silky tannins wrap it all together.
