More obviously creamy and toasty on the nose than the St-Aubin Les Charmois. Quite toasty on the palate but the fruit is crisp and intense enough to balance the oak influence. Tangy intensity and good length. (JH)

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures 1er Cru has a sense of steeliness on the reticent but focused nose; flinty aromas develop in the glass. The palate is fresh on the entry and perhaps a little richer than the aromatics suggest, delivering orange pith mixed with lychee and pineapple, offset by a fine line of acidity, and a conservative yet pretty finish. Perhaps more for early drinking, but well crafted all the same.

Aromas of green apples, mint and chamomile introduce the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Mazures, medium-bodied, layered wine with good depth at the tight-knit core and a bright line of animating acidity.
