Unfortunately, the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape from Domaine des Saumades is dominated by oxidative notes and ethanal.

50% Grenache Blanc, 25% Bourboulenc, 25% Clairette. Whole-bunch-pressed. Aged and vinified in old oak barrels. Tasted blind. A blend of oak and spiced pears on the nose. The palate has good freshness, a wet-wool note and a textured, rich mouthfeel. Some nuttiness and hazelnut to the rich, textured finish. Very gourmand. (AC)

Ripe black fruits, peppery herbs, smoked meat, and spicy notes all emerge from the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a classic, old school, mouth-filling, and structured 2022. It's not overflowing with finesse and elegance, yet it brings classic, old school aromas and flavors and has a layered, satisfying style that will drink well for a decade.
