Full screwcapped bottle 1,303 g. Frost shrank the crop drastically. Very dry summer so low yields and a very early harvest. Hand-picked. 24 hours settling before spontaneous fermentation and then 18 months’ ageing in mainly old French oak barrels. Pale greenish gold. Slightly reticent nose. Lanolin and greenery with a little impression of sweetness. Not quite as appetising as the 2025 regular bottling. Firm finish. Needs food. (JR)

There's nothing subtle about the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Section 94, with struck match on the entry and a fireworks display on the nose and palate. The palate is firm and intense with smokey bacon and clove, showing tension and some phenolics. I am on the fence about the 2021— it's so affronting right now, but in another three years (or preferably more) it could follow in the footsteps of previous vintages that have found their groove.

Sauvignon Blanc. pH 3.14, TA 8.1 g/l. Light, lively with strong green-fruit notes. Rich underneath. I can certainly see why they hold it back for a few years before release. (JR)
