Dark crimson. Sweet fruit on the nose. Smooth and gentle. Doesn’t actually seem very bordeaux-like but it delivers a painless drinking experience – pretty soft but with some fruit. Refreshing finish. (JR)

Another Dourthe production. Lively crimson. Voluptuous fruit on the nose. A tiny bit of rusty nail on the end. The vintage does its best to distract from the essentially rather hard build of this wine. But I’d much rather have that petit château from J&B at under £7 – especially as I wouldn’t be giving the free advertising. (JR)
